"The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."
Kitsap TriBabes
6/13 Brick De-Brief

Dear Tri Babes,

Thanks to each and every one of you who made today's Brick such a huge success. We had 151 comPLETErs today. Please do NOT underestimate your accomplishment: it was NOT an easy course. There were lots of "ouch" and "I didn't die" comments on the sign out sheet today!!! Please tell me that the person who got "lost" was indeed "found." I am operating under the assumption that if you were not found you could not have let so many people know that you had been lost!!! AND, through
Pink Purse Power, you raised over $88 for Camp Korey.

Thanks to
Terry Harter and Andrea Bastien for providing the inspiration for Trixie's outfit today. Andrea let me know the TRUE story of Trixie's experiences with her drunken suitor at the Lake Swim Orientation; Terry thoughtfully provided a pink palm tree beer cooler to hold any future PBR that Trixie might receive. The fact that by the END of today's Brick, Trixie's beer had been replaced by some Herbal Tri Tea gives me hope that her recent "slumming" behavior is coming to an end!!!! (It pains me to admit it, but every article of clothing she wore today HAS been worn, and loved, by me!!! I hope this just proves that I need to give more clothes to charity more often and not that I need to re-think my wardrobe choices!!!)

Our
"You *%$#ing ROCK" Award MUST go to Lisa Madson. I am calling her "Ms. Kitty Kat with 8 Lives Left." Despite the fact that her bike slid out from underneath her when she hit some gravel and she came WAY too close to the big truck that was passing her when this happened for ALL the observers' comfort, she STILL managed to comPLETE today's Brick. After a little TLC, cleaning up, and bandaging in the staging area, she gamely proceeded on to the run/walk AND finished today's Brick with a smile on her face!!!

Our
Lapin Award was garnered by Veteran Sarah Lee. Last week, Dane noticed that she had a new Tri Bike but wasn't using her aero bars. Dane can't STAND the fact that I don't ride my Tri Bike enough OR properly. So, while poor Sarah is tri-ing to get acclimated to her new bike at the FIRST Brick, Dane is projecting his pubescent frustration with me onto Sarah and doling out "tough love" by saying, "you need to use those aero bars" in a less that loving tone. So, Sarah spends her week practicing using her Tri Bike to its full potential and manages to make monumental strides forward this week. Even Dane came home and said, "Mom, that woman with the Tri Bike got TONS better this week."

Our "
Maillot Rose" honors go to Newbie, LaDonna Schuh. I know that it is the inner most fear of most of you to finish last. But I PROMISE that one of my greatest pleasures is to welcome the final finisher back to the parking lot and give her the special Maillot Rose tee-shirt that she has so rightly earned. I am always rewarded with a very inspiring story and a happy woman. Thank you LaDonna for inspiring me today with your story and your dedication.

After seeing the outfit that long time Vet,
Pam Kiesel showed up in today, I think that we MUST institute a new award -- the "Creating Comedy through Capricious Costuming" Award. She showed up wearing pink tie died tights underneath multi-colored polka dot bike shorts. Only Buzz Cut Pam could make this look natural and classy!!!

MANY thanks go to our volunteers:
Tim Whetstine, Jim Bleich, Ken Cox, Gary Daniel, Keith Willoughby, Bill Beatty, Carla Lawson, Teneka Morley-Short, Cyndy Ayers, my dear friend and your shirt Nazi, Diane Flinn, and last, but not least, Tina D'Astoli. She is recovering from a lower leg injury. She spray painted her cast pink and "bedazzled" it -- JUST for the occasion!!!

Have a great week of training. I will look forward to seeing you at the Swim and at next week's Brick. I will TRI to have your Interval training posted on the website under the"Forum" drop down in the "Kitsap Tri Babe" section by Sunday night. PLEASE let me know if you have any questions about what you should be doing on your own during the week.

Thanks for a great training this morning . . . Lisa Be Your Tri Turtle
